If you have concerns regarding the safety or well-being of any child at King's Wood School, please contact one of the safeguarding leads as soon as you can (01494 521401).  If the concern is urgent, please contact the police (phone 101 or, in an emergency where the child is imminently at risk of serious harm, phone 999).  Alternatively, if not an emergency, you can call Buckinghamshire First Response (Social Services) on: 01296 383962.

Safeguarding: Governance and Leadership

Under s.175 of the Education Act 2002, our Governing Body is fully committed to safeguarding our pupils and collaborating with external agencies to support children at risk.

  • Dedicated Oversight: Our named safeguarding governor, Ms Alison Kiln, regularly audits school provision alongside the Headteacher to ensure full compliance with national and local guidance.

  • Safer Recruitment: All staff, volunteers, and governors undergo strict suitability checks. Senior leaders and interviewing governors are fully trained in Safer Recruitment.

  • Continuous Training: Every adult working within our school is trained to uphold the highest legal and school-level safeguarding standards.

Our Safeguarding Culture

At our school, safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. We maintain a vigilant, proactive environment through:

  • Expert Leadership: Our Safeguarding Leads complete annual training to stay up-to-date with the latest legal frameworks, government policies, and best practices.

  • Collaborative Partnerships: We work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies (including social care, health services, police, and the LADO) to protect our families.

  • Whole-School Responsibility: All staff members are fully trained to recognise the signs of abuse and are clear on their duty to report any concerns immediately.

Safeguarding: Working with children and families

At King's Wood, the health, safety, and well-being of every child are our paramount concerns. We listen to our pupils and want them to enjoy their time at our school.

  • Our Partnership with You: We aim to work closely with parents and carers to help every child reach their full potential and make a positive contribution.

  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: To protect our pupils, we follow procedures set by the Buckinghamshire Safeguarding Team.

  • Important Notice: On rare occasions, serious concerns may require us to consult external agencies before we contact parents.

Find out more: Our Child Protection Policy is available online. If you have any questions, please speak to the Headteacher or your child’s class teacher.
