Forest School
At King's Wood, our Forest School program offers children a unique opportunity to develop confidence, resilience, and respect for the natural world. It offers all learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees.
Typical Activities Include:
-
Den Building: Engineering shelters using branches and tarps.
-
Outdoor Cooking: Making s’mores over a controlled campfire.
-
Wildlife Identification: Using spotter sheets to find local insects and birds.
-
Creative Arts: Using "mud paint," weaving with willow, or creating "leaf art."
-
Tool Use: Learning to use bow saws and peelers to create wooden crafts.
