RE
Our Vision
Our Religious Education curriculum is designed to foster a deep sense of respect, wonder, and critical thinking. We believe that RE is essential for helping children understand the world around them and their place within it. By exploring the core concepts of faith, belief, and belonging, our pupils develop the skills to ask questions about morality, spirituality, and the nature of existence.
Through a spiral curriculum, children revisit and deepen their understanding of key themes—such as Worship, Sacred Texts, and Creation—ensuring that their knowledge is built on a solid foundation.
Practice & Skills
As pupils journey through the school, they progress from recognising significant personal experiences to engaging in sophisticated research and debate. Our teaching encourages a rigorous learning process: Identify, Explore, Contextualise, Reflect, Investigate, and Respond.
- Key Stage 1: Pupils begin by retelling stories and recognising symbols from different traditions, learning why certain people, places, and books are "special".
- Lower Key Stage 2: Children describe how beliefs influence behaviour and begin to compare different teachings about God and the world.
- Upper Key Stage 2: Pupils use complex vocabulary to discuss the impact of religion on communities, researching sources of authority and exploring diverse world-views, including non-religious perspectives like Humanism.
Throughout their studies, pupils encounter the beliefs and practices of Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and Sikhism, learning to appreciate both the commonalities and the unique differences that define the global community.
