Art & Design
Our Art and Design curriculum is designed to ignite creativity and imagination, providing every child with the opportunity to explore their potential as a creator, craft maker, or designer. By grounding our teaching in the National Curriculum, we ensure that pupils develop an appreciation for the visual arts while mastering the technical skills necessary to express their unique ideas.

Creative Vision
Our curriculum is built upon a foundation of critical thinking, experimentation, and invention. From EYFS through to Year 6, children engage in a "spiral" of key themes, including:
-
Portraits and Landscapes: Exploring identity and the world around us.
-
Still Life and Form: Developing observation and an attention to detail.
-
Colour and Pattern: Mastering the nuances of mixing, tone, and texture.
-
Making and Sculpture: Working with diverse materials such as clay, wire, and collage.

Practice & Skills
As pupils progress, they move from fundamental mark-making and finger painting in the early years to sophisticated silk printing, complex colour wheels, and wire sculpture in Upper Key Stage 2. By studying a diverse range of artists—from the classical mastery of Leonardo da Vinci to the contemporary mixed media of Ayobola Kekere-Ekun—our pupils learn to analyse, evaluate, and find inspiration in the work of others.
