Our foundation curriculum and pedagogy is based on the work of Mary Myatt, and her concept-based curriculum. 

Mary Myatt encourages schools to help pupils develop 'sticky knowledge' through a spiral curriculum which is based on concept 'baskets'. By placing new learning in the right basket, children are able to forge links with prior learning, gain a deeper understanding of what they are learning and better retain the skills and knowledge.

Much of the foundation curriculum is taught in 'blocks' so that children are more able to draw links from lesson to lesson, as they are taught in proximity to each other. Other lessons (PE, French, Music, PSHE, RE) are taught weekly.
