Oracy

Early Intervention 

We use Language Link in Reception to identify speech and language needs immediately, ensuring every child has the support they need.

Tier 2 & 3 Vocabulary

We explicitly teach ambitious words (e.g., accumulate, benevolent, efficient) across all subjects. 

Performance & Presentation

From role-play and hot-seating to  debates, our Power of Reading curriculum engages oracy from the first lesson, ensuring children have the spoken confidence to become successful writers.

ABC Talk Stems

To foster high-level debate, children learn to Agree with, Build upon, or Challenge ideas using formal talk stems.

Reciprocal Reading

Part of the approach to reading in Key Stage 2 is oral comprehension through Reciprocal Reading. We teach children sentence stems to effectively ask questions, make predictions and summarise texts. For example: "I wonder if / why / how / who...", "I think / imagine / predict...", "The main points are...".
