Parents as First Teachers (PAFT)
You are already your child's first and most influential teacher.
To help parents give their child the best possible start in life and ensure they are school ready, we provide free:
- Support with parenting issues such as, sleep, behavioural issues, weaning, toilet training, discipline, health and much, much more.
- Individual support in your home, unique to you.
- Information about your child’s development (tracking milestones) and advice on how to nurture them to reach their full potential.
- Opportunities to meet up with other families and make new friends.
- Help in referring to other agencies.
This service is available for any King’s Wood parent that is pregnant or has a child up to the age of 5 years old.

Monthly parent groups
These are held at King’s Wood school and cover a range of topics including first aid, nutritious cooking, arts and crafts, supporting learning, well-being and supporting behavioural issues through positive discipline. These are great opportunities to get advice as well as meet other parents in similar situations. You will see these advertised on the noticeboard at the front of the school, as well as being sent via email.
