At King's Wood School, we offer a vibrant, calm and purposeful environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential. We are a two-form entry primary school for children aged 4 to 11. We have capacity for 60 children in each year group, split between two classes of 30.

Nursery admissions:

At King’s Wood, we provide high-quality early years education for children starting the term after their third birthday. Please note that our nursery is frequently oversubscribed; we recommend applying early and considering other local settings alongside your application to King’s Wood.

To join our waiting list, please fill out the application form and return it to the School Office. Our team will contact you directly once a space becomes available.

 

         Nursery admissions deadlines

  • For a September Start: Applications must be submitted by April 30th.

  • For a January Start: Applications must be submitted by October 31st.

  • Please Note: Admissions for the April term are rare as spaces are usually filled by the previous rounds.

     

     

Reception admissions:

To ensure our youngest pupils have the best possible start, we offer a staggered entry program.

  • Personalised Support: Our gradual start ensures staff can give each child the individual attention they need to settle in.

  • Full-Time Ready: All Reception children are in school full-time by the end of their first full week.

  • Stay & Play: We invite all parents to a "Stay and Play" session after their child’s first day—a wonderful way to see your child in their new environment and build a bridge between home and school.

Language ARP – Entry criteria & Admissions

To be considered for a place within this provision, a child must have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) that identifies speech, language, and communication as their primary need.

A child is eligible if they meet the following:

  • EHCP: The child must have an Education, Health and Care Plan (or be undergoing statutory assessment).

  • Primary Need: A diagnosis of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) must be the primary barrier to accessing the curriculum.

  • Mainstream Potential: There must be evidence that the child will benefit from a mainstream environment and curriculum alongside typically developing peers.

  • Abilities: Students should display the ability to communicate basic needs, respond to adult requests, and follow school behavior expectations with support.

Placement in a primary ARP does not guarantee automatic transition to a secondary ARP; criteria are reviewed at each Annual Review. Please be aware that there is a limited capacity of only 15 spaces across the entire school for this specialist provision.

All admissions to Kings Wood School, whether for Reception or an in-year transfer, are managed by Buckinghamshire Council. We strictly follow the Buckinghamshire Council Admissions Policy to ensure a fair and transparent process for all families.
